Bio and bio-circular backsheets are certified

Poligof’s Mira plant has achieved the International Sustainability and Carbon Certificate (ISCC) Plus accreditation. The certification of the Mira plant (the largest in the Group) will be followed by all of Poligof’s other plants in Italy, Russia, India and Mexico. ISCC is a globally applicable sustainability certification system, covering all sustainable feedstocks, including agricultural and forestry biomass, circular materials and renewables, based on mass balance. Mass balance is an accepted and certified protocol that documents and tracks sustainable content from supplier through to final delivery to customers. Traceability of bio and bio-circular feedstocks is guaranteed along the entire supply chain by third party auditors and strict controls of in/out materials at each stage. Poligof films and laminates from bio and bio-circular economy are called PoliBLUE, and include breathable and non-breathable films and laminates for backsheet, single wrap films, and also printed. During the manufacturing process, sustainable feedstock is blended with fossil-based feedstock to create films and laminates that can be processed exactly like standard materials (drop-in solution). Poligof has secured the upstream supply of circular and bio-circular feedstocks through an exclusivity agreement for the hygiene market with a primary ISCC Plus certified polyolefin supplier. “Thanks to PoliBLUE products, Poligof will be in a privileged position to reduce GHG emission and oil-based sources usage, allowing AHP manufacturers to propose a green material and to avoid or mitigate future taxation on fossil based materials,” comments Fabrizio D’Amico, sales director, Poligof Group.
